This is an antique Butlers Pan, also known as a Silent Butler, Crumb Catcher, or Ash Pan. This specific piece is crafted from etched brass and copper. It features a distinctive hand-tooled pentagram design (often associated with the Seal of Solomon or Moroccan/Middle Eastern motifs) etched into the circular lid. Historically, these lidded pans were used by attendants to sweep table crumbs or ash into the container, keeping it hidden from dinner guests.
It measures 7 inches long by 4 inches by 2 inches tall.
